For Henry

This week has been a very sad one as former DT member (and my dear friend) Sarah Anderson’s 3 year old son Henry passed away. Little Henry was unable to overcome a virus that made him ill last week. 

Lorie Ames has organized a way to donate for a memorial for Henry. Henry loved his local zoo and visited it almost every day in the summer. As a memorial, trees will be planted there in his honor. Melissa at Pink Cat Studio has created a digital stamp to help raise funds for a tree for Henry. All proceeds from the sale of the digi stamp, minus Paypal costs, will go towards the tree.

You can send in any amount using the form. The funds will be pooled.

Good and bad

So I've got good news and I've got some bad news.  The good news is that next Monday 11/16 i {heart} papers is releasing a brand new stamp set from Chicken Girl Designs.  The set, called Birthday Wishes, is *totally* adorable and as always available for the awesome price of just $10!  

Now for the bad news......I have a totally cute card that I made as a sneak peek to show today...and well I somehow let the sunlight get away from me :(  I've taken a few pictures using my light box and a few lights and I am just not liking the way the colors are coming out......so the sad news is you will have to wait until tomorrow to see my super cute card.  Sorry!  But fear not, I'm sure that if you head over to the blogs of the other gals on the Chicken Girl team you will find some equally cute cards previewing the set.

Top Note Box

Here's a quick and easy little box made using the SU Top Note Die that we made at my hostess club this month. It was such a fun, quick project to make and filled with the right items it would make a perfect gift.  This one is filled with chocolate of course *wink* I fringed the soft suede paper to give the effect that the pumpkins are sitting in the grass.  Fun :)

Today’s challenge tag is IHPBB6. The daily challenge winners will be randomly selected at the end of the week.
 
To qualify for the Grand Prize of being IHP Guest Designer for the month of November, here’s how it will work: Every challenge card/project you enter will earn you points (see below), and the one with the most points accumulated for the week will be the Grand Prize winner. So the more challenges you enter, the more points you earn — and the better your chances of winning the Grand Prize (and the bigger the value of your Guest Designer box will be)!
 
You will have until October 25th to post your work, and you can enter as many challenges as you like, but you CANNOT combine challenges in one project. All winners, including the Grand Prize winner, will be announced at the Birthday Bash on October 26th.

Five Minute Christmas

When it comes to making handmade Christmas cards quick and easy is the way to go (or so I keep trying to tell myself).  Well you can't get any simpler than this one.  My contribution to Kate's Five Minute Friday uses the tree image from the new Chicken Girl Designs set It's a Snow Day.  Just a simple airbrushed oval provides the background to the tree.  Then a quick addition of some silver stickles for the garland.  Then a strip of moss green corduroy ribbon with a flat bow finishes off this five minute (if that) beauty.  You could mass produce this card in no time flat!

Materials used: it's a snow day (chicken girl designs); dark chocolate, lemon tart, stamper's select white (papertrey); dp-eskimo kisses (basic grey); black noir (palette); copics; stickles; moss cord ribbon; nestabilities

Stamper in the making

Check out the beautiful thank you cards my little lady made!  She got lots of gifts when she became a big sister so these are the thank you cards that she is going to send out.  I cut the paper and stamped the images but she did everything else, including the placement of the flower and scallop oval and the stickles. I think adding the stickles was her favorite part....and I think she used just about my entire bottle on the 16 cards she made!!!  

But my favorite part??  The back of course because my little Eliz (that's the new name she has decided she wants to be called) signed the back of each and every card she made!!!  And she did a fabulous job for a 3 year old, at least in her mom's humble opinion :)

Skating by

Ok, how cute is this little elephant???  I am kind of a sucker for cute little elephants (not really sure why) and this little one just totally makes my heart melt :) This card was so much fun to make!  I used some paper from the My Mind's Eye Colorful Christmas collection.  Then I stamped the ice from the new Chicken Girl Designs set Just Skating By cut it out and coated it in rock candy stickles.  Then I cut out my little ice skater are popped it up on some dimensionals.  Once I put the card together I thought is was missing something so I cut out some snowflakes using some other papers in the collection. I think this may be my new favorite card, it is just so colorful and so much fun!!

Materials used: just skating by (chicken girl designs); bashful blue (SU); stamper's select white (papertrey); colorful christmas (my minds eye); black noir (palette); copics; stickeles; create a flake 1 (spellbinders); hot fix rhinestones (swarovski)

IHP Birthday Bash, and A Special Gift

 

Get ready for the i {heart} papers Birthday Bash! That’s right, IHP is turning 1 year old this month, and a whopper of a party is planned! There's also a special gift planned to help others celebrate more birthdays. You’ll read more about that at the end of this post.

 

First, let’s talk about the party! There will be prizes galore (free stuff – you like free stuff, don’t you?), and a Grand Prize winner will be chosen at the end to be the IHP Guest Designer for the month of November!

 

There will be 6 birthday party themed challenges, one posted each day starting on Monday, October 19th. Each challenge will be hosted (and posted) by one of the IHP Design Team members. It will also be posted on the IHP Blog and on the store site HERE. Some special invited guests will be posting throughout the week, too! Each challenge will have its own prize.

 

To qualify for the prize of the day, all you have to do is post your challenge card/project to Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) and/or Paper Craft Planet (PCP) with the appropriate tag so we can find it. The tag (and the prize) for that day’s challenge will be posted on that day. You will have the full week (until October 25^th) to post your work, and you can enter as many challenges as you like, but you can’t combine challenges in one project.
